Despite its age, this rubber is still viable for beginners and intermediate players of today's game. Although it might not possess as much speed and spin as newer-generation rubbers which new players tend to gravitate toward despite it only being a detriment to their development, I believe that this rubber can still provide adequate speed and spin in 2.0 and max thicknesses to equip the developing player with all the tools they need to develop good technique as well as a tendency to play using placement rather than speed with the great control that this rubber brings to the table. Although it can be a little pricey for an older rubber, it is a no-brainer for beginners and developing intermediate players when it is on discount.

This rubber does most things well, and it's a fantastic rubber to improve your game. It's not a fast rubber, but the right blade (like my 7 ply carbon), can bring the best out of this rubber, making it faster but still great control and spin.
I'm rating it "Excellent" instead of "Good" because it's, in my opinion, one of the best rubbers for an intermediate player in terms of price/performance, and great to practice and learn new strokes/techniques. Very durable.

The Mark V is not a fast rubber, but it allows you to have good control of the ball. I can say the quality of the shot with the Mark V rubber is what you put in the swing. It feels different from the tensor rubber because the ball does not catapult off the rubber. I tried this rubber on a fast carbon blade and I have a lot better control of the blade now.

It is not for intermediate players. Very slow. It's like Hurricane 3 with a %30 spin. I felt like I was playing with a rubber which costs $1. There is a very big difference between Mark V and Rakza 7.

I buy a lot of this rubber and put it on the bats of older intermediate players and juniors who are just becoming intermediate players - it is a lovely step away from the cheaper Chinese rubbers that we like them to learn with. When juniors reach the intermediate stage where they have learned the strokes and are now in the stage of just improving their strokes for consistency and power, this age-old rubber gives them the power and confidence to develop. The extra springiness in the rubber over the Chinese milky ways and palio types lets them loop more effectively and build skill in this important part of the game. I see Mark V as a perfect stepping stone into European/Japanese style rubbers and recommend intermediate players to use this for a year before trying 'more advanced' rubbers.

I used COPPA X2 and X3 as my first rubbers on a carbon blade. It was soo aggressive for me as a beginner.
I switched to stiga all-around evolution and put this rubber on both sides. Really great for beginners and intermediate. You really need to slap that backhand in order to get the speed, but it's still decent and great for learning spin

For the way I play, with my average skills, it's a great rubber. I did improve and gain confidence. It's not very fast but fast enough for me. Good control and good blocking as well. I am not a specialist and I haven't really tried any other rubbers except Tibhar Evolution which is much too fast for me!

Sigh. This was again a gift. I have always desired to have this rubber. Mostly because I have used XHG original a lot and on its wrapping, it says that one should move to Mark V if he or she has learned good command over XHG. Unfortunately, I couldn't buy it for myself but I have gifted it ahead. People who received it, praised this rubber a lot.

Excellent rubber. I bought a couple of sheets for my children who are starting table tennis. Nice, high-quality rubber with good speed and good spin. However, Mark V does show its age compared to the Rakza series, the latter would generate more speed and spin. Nevertheless, Mark V is more than adequate for beginners and intermediate players. However, with how it is priced, not much lower than the Rakza series, beginners and intermediate players can always start with Rakza 7 soft in different sponge thickness instead of Mark V. I wish the price can come down a bit more.

I tried this rubber on blade Yasaka Extra Sweden on my FH.
I tried it on BH, but I liked it less than the Yasaka mark V HPS soft.
This is excellent for me, for a novice player. I like this rubber. I chose a set for a long time and the TT11 helped me establish myself in the right choice.

As I've been told this rubber does it all indeed!
Perfect for playing near the table, blocking and with right technique you can produce agressive attacks.
One the best rubbers out there. If you want to improve your technique I can't suggest better rubber for this price.

I've been playing with H3Neo and MX-P. I tested with 1.8mm on forehand. I wasn't very happy with the surface of the rubber. I had a lot of trouble getting the new plastic ball to grip on to the surface and loop a heavy backspin long serve, I found that I needed to come almost straight up which felt un-natural to me.

I think that comes down to the fact that I prefer tacky Chinese rubber for my forehand.

The rubber isn't very fast but that is one of the plus points. As long as your technique is decent, the ball will land on the table so it's still a good way to learn how to play your strokes. That said, I think I still prefer the newer Rakza 7.

To be competitive in the new era of poly balls, this rubber is a little outdated, but for a beginner or intermediate player learning the basics, this is perfect. The "best" equipment is different for everyone and depends a lot on your playing style and physical constitution, and the Mark V is one of the best choices out there for players who are relatively early in their table tennis development.

This rubber is immensely cool. It fits me perfectly with the correct amount of spin to do nonreturnable serves, whilst also making shots so powerful even my young eyes can't see the ball. While I have to say sometimes it is too powerful for me, I could easily blame that on myself and maybe this rubber is just perfect.

I started with this rubber 30 years ago with the very spinny 38mm ball.
Mark V in the 1.8 mm thickness makes for a great control rubber.
It has the ability to counter very high spin serves.
It has a rather soft under sponge layer that gives great dwell time and high spin returns.

Mark V IS a great economical rubber that works well with the 40 mm ball.

I was very curious to try this rubber. I found exactly what I was looking for. Good spin, decent speed, average hardness and not too bouncy like speed glue effect rubbers. Ordered both in 1.8mm, but black once looks slightly thicker, but it is not a problem though. Very controlable rubber. Good in short game, pushes, topspins. I would say this is perfect rubber. Thank you! Hope 1.8mm will not run out of the stock.

This rubber is good for beginners, not too sensitive to incoming spin and very controlled. this rubber doesn't reward bad form as well, if you try to loop with bad form, it will create a shot that's very easy to return.

However i think this rubber is way too slow with the plastic ball, i feel that you should get rakza 7 instead, it is very similar to mark v but faster, this allows to you to advance without needing to upgrade rubbers.

It is significantly slower than modern rubbers, but allows me to develop my strokes. It doesn't allow me to cheat any of my shots and if I want to generate speed or spin, it comes from fundamentals. I consider it "weight training" and will likely move away from this rubber when these wear out or I get to USATT 1400 rating. So far, it has increased confidence in my strokes and I've convinced many players around my level to try slower rubbers (away from Tenergy) as they always hit the ball long and I can still generate enough pace to put away FH/BH winners. The control in the short game and looping is great and allows me to win with superior placement.

A rubber for begginers nowadays. With 2mm sponge or thicker can be quite good for looping and put a good amount of spin on the ball while providing nice control. The price is fair for its quality but I think the famous status of the rubber adds a bit to its price. Still totally worth it if you are a beginner/intermediate player.

Son unas gomas increibles (los primeros dias), sin embargo, cuando pasa el tiempo y no limpias las gomas se dañan demasiado, sin mencionar que perdien spin, control, etc.
Por otra parte, la recomiendo para el reves, ya que es una goma sin mucho poder, pero tiene un buen control.

I can say I'm a beginner player and as I build up my skill I'm can't wait to have my own custom made paddle. After understanding my style of play and keep on asking senior player about rubber, blade and also after trying others player paddle, finally, I choose to use Yasaka Mark V.

I'm using Mark V 1.8 on fh and bh on my 729 carbon blade. After using it just for a few weeks, all I can say is a great rubber even for a beginner and it's perform well for attacking and blocking.

I think I'm going to stick with this rubber for long period of time. Worth the money even though I've to wait almost for a month for the rubber. Worth the wait. Well after all, I'm on the other side of the world.

I bought the 1.8mm thickness for FH and BH. Im a beginner so I don't know what else to compare it to although I can say that the people at my club thought that Mark V was an old classic rubber that's outdated. Nevertheless, I went with it because it's considered by many to be a good allround rubber for developing players and a great place to start. After playing with it for the past 3 months, I'd have to agree. Not fast, not slow, not anything negative in my opinion, I could do all the shots. You can't go wrong with this rubber, however, some might say that there's nothing right about it either. So there you go...I would still rate it at 5 stars and I would recommend it to another starting player.
