The Yasaka Extra Special, while accurately classified as an OFF+ blade, is well rounded and can perform all offensive strokes quite well. Being a 7 ply blade, you can expect it to lean more on the stiffer side. This means that blocks and especially drives are where this blade will really shine.

Despite the name” Extra Special”, it is quite different from YE (Yasaka Extra) and closer to YEO (Malin Extra Offensive) due to the same surface material. The key word for the blade is stability, especially in defense. With YEO, all you think is attack, attack and attack! So you may feel a little bit tired. With YES, you may have a more balanced game and you can be more confident in defense. While attacking, YES is not so sharp and permeating in short table game as YEO. But in medium-long table game, it’s another story, YES is better and more powerful. So I make the nick name for YES “elder brother of YEO”. In a word, it is worthwhile for you to own it if you are a fan of YEO and Malin.
