Nittaku Hino Blade 5.22 is very fast offensive blade, probably the fastest in the Nittaku blade range. It has a multilayer construction, 5 layers of the famous, 300-year-old hinoki wood, and 4 layers of carbon material, which is unusual for Nittaku. The carbon layers are located very close to the top Hinoki layers. Due to how lightweight Hinoki wood is, the blade does not feel heavy at all. One needs a high level of table tennis skill to master this blade. It will not suit beginners or even intermediate players. Made in Japan.

Due to the carbon plies, the catapult effect of the hinoki wood unfolds in a more linear fashion, while giving the blade more precision but less feel/dwell time compared to a full hinoki blade. As a result, the blade has a lot of gears despite the high basic speed. I use it with Hurricane 3 Neo Blue Sponge on FH and Donic Bluegrip S1 on BH.
It is very powerful from half distance (better than Viscaria etc.) yet the touch game is still very precise. Counters close to the table generally land close to the edge. The arc of low (opposite of full hinoki blades) and deadly, which is something I'm looking for.
It has a hard feeling yet produces a lot of spin while topspinning. It also has a lot of power on flat hits. I wouldn't recommend it for close to table play, even if it handles the passive strokes very well, its strength lies in half distance, where it produces high quality killer shots every time.

I came across this absolutely gorgeous looking yet simple blade. It was supposed to be blazingly fast weapon with 4 layers of carbon (2 for each side).
But it's hinoki-base characteristics that stand out for this blade, it's not as fast as I expected but its surprisingly controllable than I imagined. After I shelved my initial expectations, I worked on its strengths: long dwell time, higher than average controls. Paired with Nittaku Fastarc G1 (FH) and Moristo SP (BH), both max thickness, the result is an amazing looping machine with high arc and accurate shots. The backhand side with the short pips is still a work in progress but the forehand game is divine with great feeling and high feedback.
