Every time you need to change a rubber on your bat and do the gluing yourself, you need to have edge tape available. If buying a strip for one bat only, you’d pay about $4 (AUD) for it.

You may not consider edge tape necessary, but in these days of VOC-free glue, it is very easy for the edges of your rubbers to start peeling back. It is then difficult to get the rubber stuck back on. It is frustrating trying to keep the rubber and wood apart, apply the glue, and then use the hair-dryer, the worse part being that the hairdryer burns your hand. To prevent this, having extra edge tape is useful.

Other factors are the thickness and adhesiveness of the tape. I have bought other brands that don’t stick. I have also bought thinner edge tape, which isn’t so good. The item reviewed is adhesive as well as thick enough to cover both rubbers and also the wood. So, your rubbers are less likely to peel and you are less likely to damage your bat.

I have been gluing rubbers frequently , especially for friends. I first bought the Donic edge tape in $10 rolls, but have found myself buying several of these. The item reviewed here has 5 times the length of the original and is far more economic. If TT is your main hobby, buying it is important.

Finally, the Donic edge tape reviewed is same design as what I’d bought before: black background with orange “Donic” lettering. The image of the product looks more like the alternative Donic edge tape. I prefer what I got. On the other hand, other brands sell garish-looking edge tape, that is not aesthetic. Reviewed product has good design & price.
