I started to use Hurricane III some months ago and noticed that my old blade (Stiga 245) wasn’t delivering everything, so I tried Viscaria and Zang Jike, which showed pretty slowly… then I tried the HL5 and works a lot!!
The vibration it’s perfect, the speed it’s good, weight balance has space to be better but works and also it’s a very friendly paddle (even for mid level players). If you are looking for blade to combine with Chinese Rubber, I highly recommend!!

Good blade, sweet spot is good.
The blade does cut my middle finger and had to sand it a bit as it was causing some issues on my finger with the shake-hand hold.
But this is typical of dhs blades and once you make the edges less sharp it works perfectly.

blade is very good for play. Great at blocking, serve and receive. Excelent within touch. One thing is very crucial with DHS H. Long 5. You have to lacquer the blade before gluing any rubbers. I did not and the top layer of wood came off!!!

It would be great if TT11 immediately put a thin layer of lacquer on the blade or at least heavily recommend to do it. The blade is on the expensive side of the scale so you want it to last.

I am very disappointed with the blade finish quality. The rubbers I played were DHS Hurricane on FH and ESN rubber on BH. H3 glued with DHS glue from TT11 and it sticked to the blade like hell. I switched to Revolution after, but the wood piece came off the blade anyways when changing the rubber. I play table tennis for more than 20 years and never ever seen such thing....

Funny thing is that all reviews are supper positive....

In the TT world for years. Tried Yasaka Extra Off, Butterfly Viscaria for a long time. Thought of upgrading and tried with Long 5. It is definitely faster than Viscaria. Easy to hit the long distance balls. However, it's slightly heavy, specially with boosted Chinese rubbers. So close to the table demands fitness for rally. I have tried Fastrack G1 for BH and H Neo for FH. Going to try Omega V Asia for FH and see with slightly reduced weight, how it feels.

Overall, a nice blade!

This is an outstanding blade , many people are scared to buy this because it's supper fast, but I tried 3 they all play pure off at the high end speed , maybe the original hl5 which had bigger head and was much heavier and was too fast. The newer hl5 in the right hands can be played like all+ to off on a slight glance . The control is high the spin generated is extreme depending on your level, the throw is medium - high, even with chinese rubbers. I have st handle because I find easier to use backhand more. tt11 as always super service

Subjective:
+ I feel this blade is great in many aspect.
+ Looks durable, hit table couple times no dent yet.
+ Lacquering service is just perfect, thanks T11.

Objective:
- (Head is big as I know) So Head heavy blade, needs to get used to it or choosing thinner sponge and lighter rubbers.

-- my blade around 90gr, with H3 BS 2.15 (2 layer boost) and Fastarc G-1 1.8, with 2 layer onto blade, 2 layer on the rubber glue in total about 190gr.
(similar setup with other blades tends to closer to 180gr)

- Finishing is not good for this price, handle needs some sanding which drops aesthetic of blade also removes serial number on handle. (I don't care much)

+ Handle size is good (for me) not thin like Fang BO carbon, but not thick as Long 3.

This is definitely the best blade for my playing style.
I play well on both sides but I like to finish points with my forehand and for that this blade is perfect. Bigger head size.
What is not good for other players you must be physically in a good shape because this is the Inner blade and to get the speed you must accelerate correctly.

My blade has 205 grams with hard rubbers and that is something that I like (more power and more controls) but for some other players that is too heavy. In general, the blade is head-heavy.

I use it for forehand Hurricane Neo 3 41 blue sponge and for backhand Joola Dynaryz ZGR Max.

This is my second blad; both are 91 grams but with lacquering to protect the blade when I remove rubbers.

I bought this blade based on the review. I wanted to try it. the blade is nicely packed in a box but after opening the last layer of the blade is not perfect as I expected. after gluing medium hard rubbers (Xiom Omega) I tried it in training. since I have been playing this game for 20 years, I can say that the tree is off-speed (claims that it is too fast and uncontrolled are incorrect). in a short game quite enough control and in spins it releases enough power for strong shots and fastballs. my rating is 8/10.

This is a very good blade for aggressive loopers. DHS claims that it is an Off++ blade, but that is utter nonsense. It’s an Off blade with a great feel to it. It’s also very stable when you block and counter.

This blade excels in all categories. Fast, accurate, spinning, serve, push, loop…
For forehand looping, I feel the blade “carries” the ball for a few seconds
before releasing the ball. That feeling is so thrilling.
The only thing I don’t like is the weight. 92 gm is a
little heavy.

The short game needs a little practice but then no problem

that's the 1 thing that comes to mind after testing it, same as Harimoto ALC, very good feeling, fast enough, good dwell time, very good short game...
it's actually so similar that if I had known this beforehand I wouldn't have bought it... ????????????
the key differences are in the feeling, the length feels more hollow whereas the Harimoto is more compact, it has a bit less dwell time when looping than the Harimoto, but it has a slightly better feel in the short game and serves, probably coz of the more hollow feeling which somehow slows the ball down at contact so its easier to keep the ball short when serving or returning, so much that you can give it a little extra spin without worrying that the ball will fly off the table...but coz of that it's a bit slower than the Harimoto in full power shots...both blades don't really feel like carbon blades but more like wood, the long a bit more than the Hharimoto...and for some reason, I liked the FH better on the Harimoto and the bh better on the long...
played on both blades 2c 09c which fits very well for a modern-style attacking game...

I got this blade to replace my Timo Boll ALC and get more power/speed.
Speed: TB ALC << LONG 5
Control: TB ALC > LONG 5
Spin: TB ALC > LONG 5
Feeling: TB ALC > LONG 5
Serve: TB ALC > LONG 5
Short game, serve receive: TB ALC < LONG 5
Close to table: TB ALC > LONG 5
2nd zone: TB ALC << LONG 5
Flat game: TB ALC > LONG 5
1) This blade is fast, real off+. After playing DHS for 1 month and then try my old Timo Boll ALC I was shocked how slow it feels in my hand, like off-.
Most of my opponents said that I got more speed and energy in my shots.
2) This blade has good control as for off+ but it is not easy to place shots due to its behavior. It feels like Ferrari in your hands. This blade requires accurate technic and straight shots from the beginning to the end or u will have many unforced errors like net touch or 5-10 cm miss out the table.
3) Due to innerforce nature u can make slow touch shots in short receive but u need to practice it. It has a bit softer outer ply than Boll ALC so for me it was easier to receive serves.
4) Feeling is good. I was looking for an off+ blade and I trying Mizutani Super ZLC and Primorac Carbon and others, but they felt stiff and sharp. This one is the softest feeling OFF+ blade I ever try. It will give u a bit more dwell.
5) Handle. I like st handles, this one is comfortable, but a bit bigger than 90% of ST blades u tried before. After this blade, Timo Boll ALC st feels tiny and more for kids, when this one is more serious, for people with mid/big hands.
U will probably want to sand it a bit to make it more comfortable.
6) Rubbers for a combo. I usually play with Yasaka Rakza X and I like them for good grip, low catapult, and overall performance. But on this blade, Rakza X feels hard so u need to shot really hard or the ball may break off. I tried to boost it with the Falco booster and it was a much better feeling but harder to play close to the table. U need to serve and jump 1m back for a good curve.
Arc is low so the best rubber will be with a high arc like tenergy 05, Dignics 05, or something similar.
7) I choose 92 grams blade with 60% rebound rate. I wanted a really fast blade. I spoke with one player who had 4 Long 5 blades and he said that more % means more control. So 60% is more impulsive and will give u extra catapult when 68-70% will give u more dwell and control but a bit less speed.
8) Fang Bo difference. I tried Fang Bo Carbon and for me personally Long 5 feels more control and more dwelly when Fang Bo feels more like 7 ply wood blade and more straight, less innerforce.
Overall I like this blade. When I try to play with old Timo Boll ALC it is much more easy to do everything, but u need to work hard and always spend energy. Dhs Long 5 require discipline with your brain and your body and then provide u great performance and power in your shots.

I played with tenergy 05 on both sides. Such speed. And control. For a short game, it needs a bit of training. But when you get the hang of it you can do whatever you want.
Played also with Dignics 09c. The big difference is that you determine what happens. You determine the reaction of the blade. If you hit with speed the blade is fast. When you play to block the blade gives you control. But you have to do it yourself. No catapult. Hit every ball 100% and you will be rewarded. Especially counter spin.

The blade has a fairly low throw, little hollow feel. Very good spin, slower than Viscaria similar to Innerforce ALC. Has more spin than Viscaria, the same spin as Harimoto ALC, but a much lower throw, which bothers me. You must have Chinese legs, to handle this blade, or play very close to the table. 09c on both sides suits this blade perfectly if you an advanced player.

The best blade that I used. Good for all attack strokes.
On the forehand side, I have Joola Golden Tango and on the backhand Dignic 09C.
I don’t use boos but because of that you should use more hip rotation to generate force and with that you have excellent control. My blade has 90 grams.
Price is higher but on the other hand, filing is amazing when you play with this blade.
I recommend this blade if you have money and you play attacking style.

This blade is very good. For those of you who read elsewhere on the Internet about this blade and think it's fast, I have to tell you, there are plenty of faster blades. This blade is anything but fast. It's a medium blade with prolonged dwell time. It built for looping game, this is for sure. Mine is decent weight - 91g FH. The total racket weight with rubbers is 193g. With that weight, speed is still medium. Somewhere between OFF- and OFF. I never played with blade like this before, it has a slightly bigger head size comparing to standard BTY/STIGA 150x157. It feels like this blade rewards you when you loop. My mates and coach confirmed that loop and topspin quality is better than before. Before this, I played with 5ply wooden blades. Switching to ML5 I still feel it as wooden, the carbon layer is placed deep around the core, I do not notice it. Maybe it increases the sweet spot, I am not sure. Anyway if you have power in your shots this blade is a very strong attacking weapon from any range. Coming from Stiga Rosewood I had to adjust to the slower speed of ML5. Other than that - the transition was very smooth. I never looked back. I have no complaints about this product. Within 1.5 months this blade made me a better looper. I won the tournament with it. I tried Hurricane 3 National blue on FH, but feel it is on the slower side. A much better result is with 729 Battle 2 Gold hard (40 degrees).

As usual, shipping was super fast. TT11 nailed it, once again!
The packaging of the blade is premium, really nice, and high quality.
The weight is 88gr, so it's not light, but not too heavy either.
The handle is really comfortable, it feels smaller than a TB ALC, but apparently, the size is pretty much the same.
I used to use the Timo Boll ALC for years. It's a fantastic blade. But zero feedback and high quickness were the causes of a lot of mistakes and frustration. My level is intermediate, so I needed something less responsive and woodier.
Hurricane 5 was the way to go. It feels like an OFF rigid high-quality 7ply wood blade, but with all the benefits of a carbon one. Which means there is some feedback when hitting the ball, it's not dead as the TB ALC. It's not super bouncy/responsive so a short/defensive game is much easier.
It releases its power only when hitting hard. Then the ball goes low and fast, with the proper movement shots will be rockets. So basically power and speed come into play only when putting effort with the body. Otherwise, it's like playing with an all-wood blade. Plenty of control and forgiveness.
It works great with medium-hard sponge rubbers, even with soft ones.
I would recommend it skilled players, counter loopers, and whoever is seeking power and control.

Достаточно мягкий контакт, небольшая, добавляющая контроля вибрация и хорошая мощь при усилении. Склейка получилась ровно 180 грамм. Баланс приятный, лопасть не перевешивает. За два турнира, набрал плюс 24- этим сочетанием. Хороший выбор( также у меня есть Вискария, Лю Шивень,Харрикейн Кинг, Спирит и Старый Жике( голубой дракон) Все основания достойные, но к Лонгу душа легла больше.Не отказывайтесь от лакировки, верхний шпон ( очень мягкая лимба)Отличный продукт и отличное обслуживание!!!

Purchased this blade because I wanted to try it, compare it to the ZLC blade.

So far I think this suits me better. In the short time I have used it, I feel my control is a lot better. Great blade in my opinion...I use Hurricane on the forehand and Tenergy 05 hard on the backhand. Great blade for looping. But since I have been using it,
I find my backhand has made the biggest improvement.

Very good blade with good speed and short game control was also excellent!!
However flat hitting wasn’t as good and the same with a flat block, I’ve since changed back to Timo Boll ALC as is a lot quicker and feels a lot more crisp, plus, I feel because I play with Tenergy 05 both sides it’s better, the Long is more suited to a Chinese tacky rubber on the FH side.

At last, after trying so many blades, I found my blade. This blade has good vibration which gives you good feeling. You can generate great spin. Very good at touch game. I think it's a complete blade, and I am loving it. I am currently using this blade with DHS GoldArc8 (FH) and Andro Rasanter R47 backhand. Later, I will try it with Hurricane Neo on FH.

Great controllable blade with innerforce features.
Fibers are nearer to core and it gives a great experience of control and precision. Catapult effect is very little comparing to Viscaria, and it is also less elastic and rigid comparing to this.
Spin is great but you have to push more energy because the surface is less reactive at bounce comparing to a classical arylate blade.
I suggest to put catapult rubbers on that like T05.
Smash is great, the ball goes where you want straight heavy.
Very solid blade,I appreciate very much how the layers are glued one to the other, it appear like one great homogeneous surface.
I LOVE this blade ( I asked for 89 grams, perfect weight I think for that). Viscaria and the Long 5 are my favourite blades.

The blade came to me in optimal conditions, even came to me before the estimated time.

What I'm about to say of the Long 5 that has not been said; It is an amazing blade!! The feeling is awesome and the control is top notch.
The only con that I found is the handle, the wings are a little uncomfortable for my hands, a bit to tall, and bothers me when I hit with the backhand.

But in conclusion, this blade has all that I been searching because I play with Chinese rubbers and from all that I've read in the forums around the web, this blade is the perfect combination with Chinese rubbers because it has an inner composition of ALC that benefits the dwell time of hard rubbers.

I had wrist issues. So, I was previously using a light blade. But, it was so difficult to hit the ball hard and get the placement right. So, I switched to long 5 after reading a lot of good reviews. Shot making has now become very effortless and I can generate tremendous amount of power, keeping the ball on the table. An absolute beast!!

Long 5 is very fast, and a lot of balls you'd normally hit inside the table will go flying out at the beginning. Once you get used to it, your loops will have huge arc and jump off the table if you put enough spin. Because of the arc generated in loops, it can be a bit difficult to predict the curvature of your attacks, so people blocking for you might find it difficult; you might also have trouble getting consistency in your loops at the beginning. I used TB ZLC and ALC before, and Long 5 is definitely faster, but also manages to keep short game pushes/touch shots. The handle is also a little skinny at the top, so it makes it hard to hold and often slips around. If this blade had Timo Boll esque handle, it would be much easier to use.

Great blade, feels very woody, has great control and dwell but when you put power in the alc gives the ball great speed.

However, it feels to me that DHS are actually trying to make the handle as uncomfortable as possible. Ive had older DHS blades and their handles we're on the thin side, but the second gen HL5, which is the one i bought, is incredibly thin. They seem to have made the wings even larger, this in turn makes the makes the blade extremely uncomfortable, the wings have caused bruising when i tried to flick, leading me to sand the wings down.

Сильное основание, стабильный отскок почти по всей поверхности. Приятный звук. Единственное, что не понравилось,так это тонкая ручка ( решил проблему обмоткой простым тряпочным лейкопластырем, что бы рука гуляла на ручке) Любит что бы им били, а не подставляли (карбон подключается при усилие на атаке). Рекомендую активным игрокам, которые постоянно в движение направленные на атаку.

I had the first Long blade , this is way better ! It provvide you lot of control and it doesn't lack any power ! Alc now is underneath the surface so speed and control are similar to an all round blade but when you play hard , power comes out , same thing as per spin and speed .
I used to play with andro triber Z and Long one , I know play three months with this blade and I tried both with Chinese rubbers ( hurricane 8 Fh / hurricane 3 neo Bh ) and European ( tenergy 05 fx Fh / andro rasant turbo ) and this blade get the best qualities of both kind of rubbers out . My tecnic and my skills need to be improved so I ply with the second choice because they are easier to use but if you're able to play with tacky and hard rubbers you will enjoy this blade .

Has a wood feel, but with power when the carbon kicks in. If money isn't an issue buy multiple ones. I'm not sure how durable it is once I take rubbers off. I have read some have encountered splintering even with sealing.

i changed from a Timo Boll ALC to this blade with H3 fh and Tibhar Fx-s bh and im loving it ,handle a little small for my taste but no big deal and be sure to varnish it because it will peel some when rubber changing ,otherwise this is an awesome blade ,you probably end up like me and purchase a couple

This is a high throw blade that needs low throw rubbers. Very powerful in full swing with good control. I would suggest tibhar mxp, tibhar 1Qxd, stiga calibra hard, andro rasant powergrip for forehand and joola maxxp, tibhar 5Q for backhand. Good luck table tennis enthusiast.

I m using this blade with hurricane neo 3 ( provincial orange sponge ) on F/H and tibhar 5Q+ (power update) .... And this blade is truly bringing out great spin/speed potential of both these rubbers.... It is fast but has excellent control in blocks, pushes.... Appropriate amount of flexibility and stiffness makes strokes over the table and away easy to execute.... Power is unleashed when you hit hard .... You can enjoy touch play and pushes at extreme angles..... Excellent for looping/driving .... I m even able to hit good B/H topspins/counter from mid/far.....
Moreover, it has a thin handle that very well suits my small palm size

Compared to my previous choice (carbonado 190), this blade is not overly stiff, which helps in over the table B/H loops/flicks, but stiff enough for good blocking..... Also, it is not a low throw blde unlike carbonado 190, so ball clears the net safely

I have even used another hard sponge rubber on F/H : andro rasant powergrip and it works quite well with this blade..

Highly recommended for ppl who attack more and use block defence in between to maintain the rally and then again go for attacking strokes !!

I play with Long 2 , H3 Nat BS FH, T05 BH, Long 5 is faster with the same control, feeling is always very good, the plastic ball is heavier than celluloic ball, the speed is reduced but it will be balanced by Long 5, you will have the same speed than before.

The blade is rather heavy (around 96gr) but just asked when you order, they will send you the lightest one.

This is one of the fast blades I have used. Being said that one should also note that it is not uncontrollable. It will take some time to get adjusted to this one. I found the handle is a bit slim so used a Nittaku grip. Away from the table it is a powerhouse. Loops are also good. But I would prefer some rubber with high arc and good grip on FH for this blade.
